If Microsoft Buys Flickr What Would They Get?

Twitter is aflutter with rumors that tech giant Microsoft will purchase photo sharing site Flickr.

As a film photographer I'm a little bit out of the loop when it comes to what is bleeding edge and popular but what I do know is that the file sharing market right now is dominated by Facebook and will be for the foreseeable future. I have a flickr account but I do not use it because if I want my "friends" to see my images, I post them on facebook. If I want photographers to look at them I will post them on twitter or believeinfilm.com. I wonder how Microsoft would benefit from a Flickr acquisition? Would they integrated with their Windows Mobile phone system to create a competitor to instagram?
